xx Some of the greatest cultures. . . .
« Thread started on: Apr 23rd, 2005, 03:08am »

I don't claim to be a scientist or an expert on the subject of lost civilizations, but I have seen lots of documentaries and read a lot on the topic regarding the ancient societies that have vanished.

Some of the earliest civilations are found by archeologists and anthropologists in the region of outer Mongolia. Some mummies that have been unearthed by expeditions into the massive flat lands there have been dated back before the Egyptians. Intestingly enough, the mummies were of caucasion ethnicity and nomadic. There were extremely long and well traveled trade routes between the Mongolian territories well into India and Eastern Europe.

Some anthropologists theorize that these nomadic peoples were the founders of many ancient "colonies" along the way, and may be the forefathers of other greater civilizations know in human history. Some also theorize that the early Mongolians may have even taught the art of mummification to the Egyptians and other cultures, however it was the Egyptians that are most noteworthy in their method and development of the science/religion.

Wonderous monuments built thousands of years ago by ancients that may (or may not have) had access to advanced mathmatics and slide rules, moved blocks of stone from quarrys hundreds of miles from the locations of the construction sites for which they were used. Still a great mystery to modern science, with hundreds of years of discipline, still cannot do anything by theorize how this was done.

Every one of the civilations of ancient times that has disappeared all have one great thing in common: No one knows why they disappeared. They all show no trace of anniliation by conventional warfare, and the the people just seemed to "vanish" with little or no trace. Aztecs, Mayans, Incans, Cretens, Minions, Romans, Early Greek, just to name a few, have only left behind early transcripts of their worship of gods from the sky, earth, water, and air (the four elements of life).

One could theorize that each civilization was either abandoned or absorbed through policital intrigue between rival civilizations, similar to what has happened to countries in modern times.

What I personally think happened is this:

First of all, mankind may NOT be from Earth. I think that we were put here by some other race/species as a kind of genetic test. Perhaps we were placed here as a long study of technological development and we are being observed from afar (or perhaps close up and we are too dumb to notice). How many people have claimed to been "abducted" by aliens? Almost too many to account for and many that may never admit it or are trying to forget.

How many of us have actually seen some kind of lights in the sky or witnessed and experienced "close encounters?"

How do we know that our own scientists have not found advanced "crashed" technology in places like Roswell NM, USA and are "retro-engineering" and does this explain our sudden "explosion of Technology" in the computer age. Just think about it, because 15 years ago, computers were much different and techology as reached a point of "nano-miniature" proportions.

Perhaps the early techonologies of lost civilizations were much more advanced than we have today, and because of the advance, these peoples "transcended" or traveled to another level of existance. Maybe they were more "Earth conscious" than we are today and that is why they left no traces of machines or software technology. Maybe they were in contact with our "observers" from other worlds?

Scientist have made recent discoveries in the geology of different areas of Earth.

One possibility is that a devastating meteor impact in the Middle East more than 4,000 years ago might have triggered the mysterious collapse of civilizations.

Satellite images of southern Iraq revealed a 2 mile wide depression, characteristic of a major cataclismic event such as a comet or meteor impact. The violent force would be equivalent of hundreds of nuclear bombs.
This crater lies on what would have been shallow sea 4,000 years ago. This would have caused a moderate E.L.E. (Extinction Level Event) in the immediate area of the impact, and affect the rest of the Earth climaticly.

This could also explain the question of sudden decline of early advanced cultures around 2300 BC.

They include the demise of the Akkad culture of central Iraq, and the mysterious semi-mythological emperor Sargon; the end of the fifth dynasty of Egypt's Old Kingdom, following the building of the Great Pyramids and the sudden disappearance of hundreds of early settlements in the Holy Land. This would also explain the unexplained gaps in historical records between these dynasties.

Until now, archaeologists have put forward a host of separate explanations for these events, from local wars to environmental changes. Recently, some astronomers have suggested that meteor impacts could explain such historical mysteries.

The crater's faint outline was found by Dr Sharad Master, a geologist at the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, on satellite images of the Al 'Amarah region, about 10 miles north-west of the confluence of the Tigris and Euphrates and home of the Marsh Arabs.

"It was a purely accidental discovery," Dr Master told The Telegraph last week. "I was reading a magazine article about the canal-building projects of Saddam Hussein, and there was a photograph showing lots of formations - one of which was very, very circular."

Detailed analysis of other satellite images taken since the mid-1980s showed that for many years the crater contained a small lake.

The draining of the region, as part of Saddam's campaign against the Marsh Arabs, has since caused the lake to recede, revealing a ring-like ridge inside the larger bowl-like depression - a classic feature of meteor impact craters.

The crater also appears to be, in geological terms, very recent. Dr Master said: "The sediments in this region are very young, so whatever caused the crater-like structure, it must have happened within the past 6,000 years."

Reporting his finding in the latest issue of the journal Meteoritics &;amp Planetary Science, Dr Master suggests that a recent meteor impact is the most plausible explanation for the structure.

A survey of the crater itself could reveal tell-tale melted rock. "If we could find fragments of impact glass, we could date them using radioactive dating techniques," he said.

A date of around 2300 BC for the impact may also cast new light on the legend of Gilgamesh, dating from the same period. The legend talks of "the Seven Judges of Hell", who raised their torches, lighting the land with flame, and a storm that turned day into night, "smashed the land like a cup", and flooded the area.

The discovery of the crater has sparked great interest among scientists.

Dr Benny Peiser, who lectures on the effects of meteor impacts at John Moores University, Liverpool, said it was one of the most significant discoveries in recent years and would corroborate research he and others have done.

He said that craters recently found in Argentina date from around the same period - suggesting that the Earth may have been hit by a shower of large meteors at about the same time.

So we can all speculate, theorize, look at clues, and still not know. The only way to learn would be to travel back in time as an observer without interferance, but does physics and the science of mathmatics really give us that oppurtunity? I think that anything is possible because human enginuity can transcend physics and the known universe. Why else are we "sentient" beings and full of creativity and emotion when so many other creatures on Earth that have been here longer than us? We were put here to learn and evolve and develope, and to discover ourselves, but like anything else on this planet or in the universe, we are fragile organisms that are not immune to destruction by nature. Maybe it is our destiny to become immune, but when that happens, I believe we will transcend and vanish like our ancient ancestors. Or perhaps we will traverse the stars and settle other worlds like a "Star Trek" saga, while Earth continues to be bombarded by astroids and meteorites. We won't know until it happens.
